Brighter Futures
Brighter Futures is an early intervention program designed to give parents that extra support and connection to services to give children a good start in life. The program targets families with children aged 0-8 years, or expecting a baby.
Our Brighter Futures program covers the Bankstown and Fairfield areas and is a collaboration between Metro and Fairfield Migrant Resource Centres. The service is based at our Condell Park office.
Brighter Futures works with families experiencing:
- domestic violence
- parental drug and alcohol misuse
- parental mental health issues
- a lack of extended family or social supports
- parents with significant learning difficulties and/or intellectual disability
- child behaviour management problems
- lack of parenting skills or inadequate supervision
We offer a range of culturally appropriate supports including:
- Case management
- Home visits
- Parenting education
- Access to quality childcare
- Connection to local community networks and services
Participation is entirely voluntary and families can remain in the program for up to two years.
Making a Community Referral
With an emphasis on early intervention, the community plays an important role in referring families into Brighter Futures. Schools, doctors and health workers, counsellors, childcare services, community organisations and individuals can refer families into Brighter Futures.
